Always Be Looking

A favorite NE Gate gave up one mature eagle , several wood ducks and two male mageansers.
It was certainly better weather than yesterday morning.
A short distance from Quabbin I cauaght a glimpse of this osprey off in the distance. The opportunity was very brief.
One fast picture and this raptor was air borne.

It would appear that central Massachusetts has a nesting pair of Osprey's

Not Very Good Weather For Photos

The hike this morning was cut short with white out conditions over the reservoir. I was hoping to see an eagle or possibly a coyote crossing the ice. Not to be this morning....
The weather tomorrow sounds much better for a Quabbin Hike !

Not Quabbin Related

This will probably be the last weekend to reach a couple of Wood Duck boxes using the ice. Several years ago I put them up in hopes they would be used. Last year one box turned into a mouse condo and the second box had eggs that did not hatch.
This year pretty much the same. One box was not used. I moved it closer to the water( picture on title page) The same box that failed last year also failed this year.
I will do some research to understand more about locating Wood Duck boxes

Stuctures & Things

I spent some time this morning organizing photo's of Quabbin structures along with odds & ends. The photo above was taken on the west side of the reservoir hiking along the shoreline. You can find other things found hiking on the link below.
