TC's & Spectacilar Sunrise

I set out a second TC last week in the same spot as the first one.  My thought was to set one on video and the other on picture. It worked out pretty good. Was able to get a short video of the coyote on the cover page.
Saturday morning I was in the right place at the right time to catch dawn setting in. The sky was on Fire ! and reflecting on the ice .

Water Flowing

Its been many months since seeing water flowing over this beaver dam ! Granted it's not raging but its  a start with increasing the reservoir water level.

I hiked six miles this morning in hopes of finding a moose shed.  Well. that didn't work out so well :(
Walking the swamps edge I did see five deer. They looked very healthy.

Slim Pickins' Today

Coyote in the picture above was taken a few weeks ago while watching a deer carcass.

The mild temps ( mid 40's) this morning made for a foggy hike.  I was able to set another trail camera out . Temps next week will be in the mid thirties, With little snow the critters will be on the move.
I wouldn't be surprised by next weekend if many of the iced over coves are open water.

Spent the last two mornings settling in before dawn in hopes of catching a pic of a coyote wandering the shoreline. No critter activity at all. Sure was a nice sunrise though !
I also hiked into a remote area  to check on a trail camera. The TC recorded a short video of a bobcat during the day. I'll share it after I get a few more winter clips.

Nothing But Skin & Bones / 2016 TC Highlights

I went back this morning to check and see what evidence might be left of the deer carcass from last Saturday .  I was surprised to find the bones and skin still sitting on a sandbar. I figured there would be nothing left.

There were tracks from coyotes and one bobcat leading from the shoreline to the sandbar.

Incredible Weekend !

Finding a deer carcass on the ice during a long weekend presented a challenge and a number of photo opportunities. A dawn hike on Saturday revealed crows / ravens and a dancing coyote on the distant ice. Closer investigation showed a deer carcass about 75 yards out on the ice.
Settling into the wood line presented a quick coyote picture.
Returning Sunday gave up two pics of a very weary bobcat.
Last chance to watch this carcass was on Monday. Persistence and patience paid off !
After a lengthy stalk on crusty snow the bobcat above presented an hour of photo opportunities.

Nice Start To New Year !

Just a little to early !!!

I was settled in early this morning. It always interesting waiting as dawn sets in and the anticipation of what the early morning may hold. It was exciting watching this bobcat walk the shoreline edge as it headed to the downed deer . With early dawn setting in the cat was very apprehensive about leaving the security of the shoreline and becoming exposed. It all come down to risk versus reward. The cat approached the carcass with extreme caution looking in all directions.
The bobcat only presented two photo opportunities before exiting in a real hurry.
